the percentage rise in the Valentine’s inflation index in the Netherlands for 2014, compared with 1.4% for overall inflation. The figure is created in a similar way to the basket of goods used for year-round inflation but includes common romantic gifts such as chocolate and jewellery (which both fell in price), as well as wine, flowers, theatre tickets and restaurant costs (which all rose). It is calculated using Dutch CPI by the ING Economics Department in the Netherlands
